The runway at Yakutsk Airport.

The runway at Yakutsk Airport.

We’ve touched on the connection between gold and planes many times before, whether from gold bars stashed in an airplane lavatory, or shoved deep inside passengers, gold on flights is nothing new.

So naturally, gold on runways would be the next logical step.

Case in point, the recent report of 200 bars of gold that ended up scattered over a Russian runway, when a cargo plane’s door broke off during takeoff.

$378 Million Worth of Gold on the Runway

The Nimbus Airline An-12 cargo plane attempted to takeoff from Yakutsk Airport, and instead ending up depositing the 3.4 tons of gold, along with a selection of diamonds and platinum, on the airstrip.

Talk about an egg hunt.

Just sayin’.
