In a move that is sure to have you flying, Emirates Airlines decided to kick off July with a stricter carry-on luggage policy and enhanced screening.
Coming from the US, Australia or New Zealand? Great, any powdered goods you have need to be kept at 350 grams, or they are more likely to be confiscated (especially if it is something good like coffee or eyeshadow).
If you are using Emirates to fly into the US, don’t even try bringing any powders at or over 350 grams as those amounts are no longer allowed in your carry-on at all. Even in Italy and Greece, Emirates promises to seize your powders.
As per Emirates, “These items will be confiscated at Dubai (DXB) as well as Milan (MXP) and Athens (ATH), depending on the last point of departure. Powders under 350 ml/grams may be subject to additional screening.”
Emirates Does Have a Silver Lining Though…
Now, those items not considered to be a powder under the new guidelines include prescription meds, baby formula, and human ashes.
