In a shocking turn of events, Amtrak continues to be deep in the red.
We will give you a moment to pick your jaw up from the floor.
Yes, in one year, government-run train system lost $72 Million in food services alone.
This week’s Genius Idea though is centered on former-Silicon Valley actor TJ Miller, whom recently called in a false bomb threat on an Amtrak train.
Charged by the District of Connecticut with, “Intentionally conveying to law enforcement false information about an explosive device,” on March 18, Miller placed a call with 911, claiming that on his train was a scarf wearing female passenger that had a bomb in her bag.
The train he claimed had the bomb was not the one his was on, and when that train was stopped and searched no bomb was found.
Passengers on the train that Miller was on, reportedly said that he appeared heavily intoxicated and was arguing with a woman seated near him.
Miller has since been arrested and released on a $100,000 bound (about two Amtrak steaks worth for taxpayers), and faces up to 5 years in prison.
