It’s no longer a great idea to become a stock-photo hand model. Just when you thought that the world couldn’t possibly get any scarier or tenser, again the skies have opened up with one more practice you should fear—in this case, for today, it’s flashing a peace sign in photographs.

Yes, from every basic bitch to Hello Kitty aficionados to politicking parasites, the reverse two-fingered salute has been ruled by Japan’s National Institute of Informatics (NII) as the latest way for identity thieves to capitalize on whatever is left in your 401K.The hallmark of a lady…that won’t get her identity stolen.

According to the NII researchers, whom were able to replicate fingerprints from photographs taken 9ft away, “Just by casually making a peace sign in front of a camera, fingerprints can become widely available.”

Be warned that other gestures such as waving, or giving the byrd (bird) can also put your identity at risk, so either embrace a 1950’s glove look or sit on your hands during your next photo op.
