The Rhode Island General Assembly is working to ban minors from tanning beds, even if they have parental consent, as the law stands now.
Bill S2299A to Protect Public Health
The sponsor of the above bill, Sen. Majority Whip Maryellen Goodwin, explains that, “All tanning is skin damage, and even one single tanning session drastically increases a young person’s risk for skin cancer. It’s time to start treating tanning like the public health threat that it really is.”
How soon until we ban the youth from ever going outside? You know, in the interest of public health.
