Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal keeping you safe from the dangers of sparklers.

Were you planning on ringing in the New Year with a few Black Cats, a Chinese sky lantern or two, and a handful of sparklers?

Well, if you’re in the ultra-free State of Delaware, you’ll need to rethink those plans.

Yes, the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is hard at work this week reminding citizens that possession of any type of fireworks is illegal, despite however merry your intentions might be.

Why? Obviously, the ban is Delaware’s way of keeping you safe.

According to the State Fire Marshal, “Fireworks can cause serious injuries or death. Temperatures for a burning sparkler can exceed 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Projectiles from exploded fireworks can cause eye injuries, burns, and amputations of fingers. An estimated 11,900 people were treated in the Nation’s hospitals in 2015 for injuries related to the use of fireworks.”

Can you believe it, PDers? In a Nation of 320.9 Million (as of 2015) 11,900 were treated after firework mishaps.

Clearly, banning them was the only reasonable thing to do.

Genius, Delaware. Absolutely brilliant!
