It’s great that our PD Book Club pick this month is the Constitution, since it seems that Bloomberg’s astroturf Mom’s Against Everything groups have made their move in a big way when it comes to the 1%’s Walmart, Targét.
Last week, Target decided to be the retailer of choice for criminals by announcing that your right to defend yourself ends at their automatic doors.
Manatee labels aside, CEO John Mulligan did a great bit of doublespeak as he practically tripped over the asinine decision by saying, “Our approach has always been to follow local laws, and of course, we will continue to do so, but starting today we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target — even in communities where it is permitted by law.”
Wow, you know what stops killers in their tracks? Respect. Diana Ross has been saying it for years, and with hair like hers who can dare to argue? Certainly not Mulligan.
“This is a complicated issue, but it boils down to a simple belief: Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Target backs off their new stance and tries to call a mulligan, but until then it is bad news for Michelle Obama’s thrifty wardrobe, as her Secret Service detail and their un-family-friendly guns won’t be welcome among the discount Independence Day candy and flag tees.
