November’s Book: To Kill A Mockingbird

Books, the enemy to collective thought.Move over Mark Twain, here comes Harper Lee.For November, our staff wanted to select one of the newest listings on the American Scholastic Banned List.

That’s right, while as of October 31st, the Mississippi Biloxi School District can’t without parental permission, we will read Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. The movie--- what most Middle Schoolers opted for during that classroom unit.

Chockful of phrases and general vocabulary that, “Make people uncomfortable,” at 384 pages, if you are able to finish the book (and not just go straight to the film version starring Gregory Peck) you’ll prove that you’re stronger than other 8th Graders and their Social Justice Warrior parents.

Pick up this soon to be erased classic either here or from our side margin and let us know what you think down below.

Loved this when I read it in school. It might be nice to give it a reread over the holiday.
