Memory Lane Monday: Mufti Says Ghost Stories Are Wrong

Ectoplasm.Of course, Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad also blamed bad moods on El Nino. Obviously, our PD Staff enjoys sharing a good ghost story with young and old alike, especially at this societal allowed spooky time of year, but in April of 2016, Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad almost convinced us that campfire tales are haram.

Claiming that one should not share ghost stories with kiddos (in particular the ones in the Muslim Malay Community) due to the possibility that, “Children from these families will be afraid of ghosts and spirits to an extent that they become hysterical.”President Peter Mutharika was quick to allay any fears last week when he said, “My government will offer protection from these alleged blood-suckers.”

Hysterical? Well, as much as we would like to scoff at the need for a warning label on ghoulish tales, there are mobs now in Malawi hunting vampires, so…
